I made a dream come true
About 18 years ago, towards the end of my Bachelor degree, I put together my first CV, and this was the objective I wrote at the top of the page:
To produce TV shows that will affect people’s lives the way my life was changed by one.
This kickstarted my 15-year-old career as a producer in scripted TV.
Along the way, there were loads of moments where I found meaning in the characters that populated the stories I worked on, and it felt healing for me - something I have been seeking in everything I do.
But the bit of about helping to improve people's lives through the shows I made? That definitely hadn't manifested.
Not just because development takes years (look up development hell if you're curious 🙃), but because the process of producing shows is so far removed from the audience, you don't ever get to feel the impact. Can it be rewarding? Absolutely. But is it why I originally got into TV? No.
This is one of the many reasons I quit my permanent TV job last year and embarked on a freelance career and running my own business.
Making a positive impact on the world is what I've always wanted to do. Helping people. Making a difference.
Well, folx, on Tuesday night I wrapped the first run of my Unlock Your Creative Blocks course, shepherding five beautiful people on a journey of creative healing, and I can say without a doubt that THIS is what I meant when I wished to impact people's lives, almost twenty years ago.
It's a joy, an honour and a privilege to hold space for people, to help them become softer with themselves, and to watch bloom and thrive as who they are exactly.
I am grateful, and I know I am where I belong in this world.
And I can't wait to do it all over again.
With love and big feelings, always,
Your neurodivergent creative coach,
